Hi There ! I’m Danni, Duane’s wife (and the administrative side of Grand Openings.) I met Duane in the Summer of 2014 , at that time he had been employed with one of the LARGEST and most reputable Garage Door companies in the Midwest for over 11 YEARS!
His weekly routine consisted of going to bed by 8:30 pm every night, and waking up at 4:30 am M-F and putting in over 10 hours of HEAVY DUTY manual labor every day . Talk about a GRIND ! (YEAR ROUND might I add – in the sub zero temperatures we get here in MN’s frigid and beautiful winters) Then coming home to find that a friend , or relative (or friend of a friend , etc) needs him to come take a look at their garage !
Our first date in fact , we had to make a stop at a friend of his to… (I can’t remember exactly what) I just remember watching him in complete ‘awe’ at how easy he made such an incredibly dangerous job LOOK. (The operative word is ‘LOOK’ here, it IS in fact VERY dangerous, especially those springs.) The point is ; this man was created to install Garage Doors. With his 6’5″ frame, most of the standard size doors he installs doesn’t require him to use a ladder. (My favorite is when he runs the cables to that convenient little wall button next to the door – without using a ladder) Impressive to say the very least . Duane’s work speaks for itself . Not only is he efficient , the quality of his work is unsurpassed .
Several years and hundreds of garage doors later; Duane’s hard work and determination provided him with enough financial stability to make the leap of faith and start the family-business he thought was only a pipe dream . TWO weeks after we closed on our first house in the summer of 2017, Grand Openings LLC was born . Two months later, Duane stuck it to the big guy (And by stick it – I mean he STUCK his resignation letter right in his bosses incoming mailbox) and that decision has forever changed our lives for the better…
Duane is the most genuine, hardworking, big-hearted, and honest man I have ever met in my life . Anyone who knows, or have met him can attest to that. This is INCREDIBLY relevant to his business, and his work. Which is why we don’t have “competitive” prices… we have HONEST prices – being a small family owned company – we don’t have all of the overhead that most bigger companies have that require them to BUMP up that price (up and up and up) …
